YouTube

As a filmmaker and editor, I've made it my mission to share engaging stories about creativity, internet culture, and personal histories through short-form documentaries, films, and explainer videos. For the past few years, I've been honing my skills on YouTube, constantly seeking new and innovative ways to bring these stories to life. Whether I'm capturing intimate moments of personal reflection or examining the wider cultural significance of the world, I approach each project with a keen eye and a critical mind.

Here are a few of my favourite videos.

Is Shaadi.com Casteist?
In this video essay, I explore the intersections of matrimonial website Shaadi.com, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's paper on Castes in India, and academic research on the role of caste in partner preference for marriage. I also delve into the consequences of a culture that infantilizes adults and denies them agency in choosing their own partners, and consider the influence of Hinduism on this phenomenon.

Understanding Jai Bhim Comrade
In this video - I discuss Anand Patwardhan's revolutionary film - Jai Bhim Comrade.
I breakdown Patwardhan's filmmaking style, his music choices and also highlight how the film perfectly showcases the apathy of the Oppressor Castes.

Ambedkar and I
In this audio piece, I had the opportunity to reflect on the transformative impact that Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar has had on my life. I also share insights from my father about his own background and relationship with Ambedkar, and discuss my own experiences growing up in a Christian school and grappling with questions of faith. In addition, we delve into my father's college days and the ways in which he and others actively asserted their rights and identities. We also pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and his role in improving the lives of millions of Dalit people throughout India.

The Martian Invasion of 1938 (and the death of Indian Journalism)
In this video, I examine Orson Welles' radio adaptation of HG Wells' classic book "The War of The Worlds." I also explore Welles' thoughts on the power and potential of new mediums, and consider how these ideas may be relevant to the current state of Indian journalism.
